      <description><![CDATA[Larry Harmon, who turned the character Bozo the Clown into a show-business staple that delighted children for more than a half-century, died Thursday of congestive heart failure. He was 83.<br /><br />His publicist, Jerry Digney, told The Associated Press that Harmon died at his home.<br /><br />Although not the original Bozo, Harmon portrayed the popular clown in countless appearances and, as an entrepreneur, he licensed the character to others, particularly dozens of television stations around the country. The stations in turn hired actors to be their local Bozos.<br /><br />The business - combining animation, licensing of the character, and personal appearances - made millions, as Harmon trained more than 200 Bozos over the years to represent him in local markets.]]></description>

      <title>Patricia Helton, 56 of Vinita, OK died Jul 2, 2008</title>

      <description><![CDATA[Patricia Lynn Helton, 56 year old Vinita resident passed away early Wednesday morning, July 2, 2008 at her home. She was born February 26, 1952 in Cairo, Illinois to Edward and Mildred (Willard) Christian.<br /><br />Patricia retired from Eastern State Hospital where she was a registered nurse for 16 years.  She was married to Rick Helton.  Patricia was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Vinita.  She enjoyed camping, fishing, sewing, gardening, cooking and her grandchildren.  Patricia also was a group leader with Camp Fire Girls. Everyone that knew Patricia knew that she had a great compassion for animals. <br /><br />Patricia leaves as surviving her husband Rick Helton of the home. Children Amy Hoskin-Everett of Muskogee, Charles Hoskin, Jr. and wife January of Vinita.  Grandchildren Triston Hoskin and Jasmine Hoskin.  Sisters Cindy Wilson and husband Ben of Vinita, Elaine Horton and husband Steve of Vinita.  Brother-in-law Raymond Helton and wife Pat of Vinita.  Nephews and nieces Adam Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Matthew Wilson, Megan Purcell, Daniel Rowe, Sarah Horton, Libby Horton and Donnie Helton.  And numerous friends. <br /><br />Patricia was preceded in death by her parents. <br /><br />The family will gather at Burckhalter Funeral Home to receive friends and relatives on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 4 p.m.   <br /><br />Services for Patricia will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2008 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Skip McClain and Pastor Bob Johns officiating.  Interment will follow at Timpson Chapel Cemetery.  Casket bearers will be Deek Melton, John Brock, Randy Boston, Tim Everett, Cody Fields and Tim Galvin.       <title>Paul Schadler, 66 of Alpine, CA died Jun 22, 2008</title>

      <description><![CDATA[Paul K. Schadler, a longtime resident of Alpine, CA passed away at home with family on June 22, 2008, at the age of 66, of Melanoma.  Born in Pottstown, PA, he was the eldest of five brothers.  Paul moved to San Diego when he was 25 and started a family.  He was a very talented and had a love for all sports.  <br /><br />Paul was a quality control manager fo 40+ years in the aerospace and tubing industries.  He loved to work and had a work ethic  like no other.  He strongly believed if he couldn't work , he would he might as well not be living.  When he wasn't at his job, he worked around his house that he built 30 years ago.<br /><br />In addition to being such a hard worker, he also had a wonderful sense of humor and was much loved by all, he had a way of making everyone feel very special. He will be missed by so many people.<br /><br />Paul is preceded in death by his father, Paul D. Schadler, he is survived by his mother, Jean Schadler, grandmother Annie Haas, his children, Paul D. Schadler and Tracey (Schadler) Rivera, his brothers Lester, Daniel, Richard, Donald and Russell Schadler and sister Faye Schadler, his life partner Rebecca Jones and his stepchildren Amy and Troy, his tree grandchildren, Daniel, Katie and Seth and two step-grandchildren Cody and Sydni, and many nieces and nephews. <br /><br />Services will be held July 8th at 10am at El Cajon Mortuary with a graveside service to follow at Singing Hills Memorial Park.]]></description>

      <title>Sharron Disney, 67 of Joplin, MO died Jun 12, 2008</title>

      <description><![CDATA[Sharron Lynn Disney, daughter of George Riley and Alberta E. (Hargrave) Taylor, was born in Riverside, California on May 13, 1941.  She passed away at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Missouri. <br /><br />Sharron was preceded in death by her parents.  Sharron shared 67 years and 30 days with us.<br /><br />Sharron moved with her family to north of Lockwood in 1950.  She married David Lawrence Disney in September, 1961 in Lockwood, Missouri.  Sharron and David moved to Golden City at that time.  She was a member of the Golden City United Methodist Church and worked tirelessly in any activities involving the children.  <br /><br />Sharron had worked as a cook at school and had been a nurse with the Lockwood Hospital and with the Lockwood Medical Clinic working with Dr. Beverly Holmes.  When Sharron had worked at the nursing home, she would adopt residents that had no family and decorated their rooms at the holidays.  Many years after she had cared for these people, her family was told of what a wonderful job she had done.  Sharron always put herself last and wanted everyone taken care of before her needs were met.  Helping and pleasing others is what made her happy.  She will be missed by many.<br /><br />Sharron is survived by her husband, David Disney, Golden City, MO; her son Craig Alan Disney and wife Sherry, Bloomfield, MO; her daughter Kathryn June Boehne, Golden City, MO; her sister Shirley Ruth VonStroh, Republic, MO and brother George Riley "Bill" Taylor, Jr., Golden City, MO; her six grandchildren, Summer Mahala Peters and husband Bryan, Theodore Michael Boehne, Brittany Shane Disney, Taylor Brooke Disney, Deana Lynne Stevens and Adrienne Faith Christian and her great-grandson Isaac Scott Stevens.  Many other relatives, friends and neighbors will cherish the memories of this loving and caring woman.<br />]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Connie Bailey Boner, 86, of Charlotte, formerly of Lexington, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at Liberty Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte, after several years of declining health. <br /><br />She was born May 31, 1922, to Nathan L. Bailey and wife, Tilmont Beck Bailey. She was a 1942 graduate of Lexington High School and a 1945 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. <br /><br />Ms. Boner retired from the Davidson County Health Department in 1987 after more than 37 years of service as a public health nurse. During her service, she received numerous awards, including the 1987 Citation of Merit Award from the NC Public Health Association and the 1986 Employee of the Year award and 1984 Director's Award from the Davidson County Health Department. <br /><br />In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard L. Boner; a brother, Nathan J. "Pete" Bailey; and a sister Carolyn Bailey Simmons. <br /><br />She is survived by two sons, Richard D. Boner and wife, Margaret, of Charlotte, and Michael L. Boner and wife, Maureen, of Phoenix, Md. Johnie passed away June 23, 2008 in Tulsa, OK at the age of 83 years, 7 months, 19 days.<br /><br />He was a retired Freewill Baptist Minister who was ordained in 1958. He pastored 3 churches in Oklahoma, 5 in Arkansas, and 2 in California. He organized the church in Mountain Home, AR and also served under the State Mission Boards in AR and CA, to start the churches in Ash Flat, AR and Anderson, CA. He preached revivals in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi and California. To supplement his income, he worked as a tile setter, and had his own business in Mountain Home, AR. He liked to fish and hunt. He also enjoyed traveling, and visiting family and friends. He often had a vegetable garden, and liked to make picante sauce. Johnie will be greatly missed by his family and friends, who are thankful for the Godly influence and love, he brought to their lives. <br /><br />Johnie is survived by his wife Mary of the home, Daughters, Mary Ann Washburn of Ft. She was a former employee of Link Taylor for 20 years and a member of Freedom Baptist Church. <br /><br />She was preceded in death by her parents.<br /><br />Surviving are: husband Ben Barber of the home, four sons; Bobby Barber and wife Cindy of Cheraw, SC, Scottie Barber and Jodey Barber and wife Amy all of Lexington and Shane Barber and Donley Lytle of Atlanta, GA, an awesome daughter, Jenny Eaton and husband David of Lexington and a daughter Kathie Davis and husband Gary of Kannapolis, three brothers; Danny Furr and wife Sarah, Leroy Furr and Sonny Furr all of Lexington. And so God called home his newest angel, Era Belle Hege Zavala, to live in eternal peace and comfort with him.<br /><br />Era Belle was born in Lexington, NC on August 30, 1950, to Mary Elizabeth Musgrave Hege and Thomas Hawkins Hege.  Era Belle was the third of seven children and a beautiful baby.  Her beauty, both inside and out, were apparant from the start.<br /><br />Era Belle was preceded in death by her father.       <description><![CDATA[Jean Etta Browne, daughter of John Mart Ballew and Molly Melissa Carver, was born June 4, 1925 at Wheelers Mill, near Crocker, Missouri.  The family later moved to Waynesville where at the age of 13 she and her sister Maxine became members of the United Methodist Church and were baptized in the Roubidoux River. She graduated from Waynesville High School in 1943 then attended Drury College, majoring in Music.<br />     <br />On March 29, 1946, Jean was united in marriage to Thomas Randolph Browne in Columbus, Kansas.  They shared over 57 years of marriage together and were blessed with two daughters: Randee Jean and Rebecca Ballew. Randy preceded Jean in death on May 21, 2003.<br />     <br />Jean was proud of and dedicated to her family and her hometown.  She was employed by the Waynesville School district, teaching elementary grades in the late 40's and early 50's.  Later in the 50's and 60's, she and Randy owned and operated the Army Store and the Towne Shoppe in Waynesville.  In 1980, she and Randy moved to Dallas, Texas where she retired from the Hartford Insurance Company in the early 90's.  The couple moved back to Waynesville in 1996 to retire.  <br />     <br />Jean was a longtime member of the Waynesville United Methodist Church where she where she served as youth and adult choir director. She loved music and played the trumpet, accordion and piano.  She also enjoyed bowling and playing bridge with her friends.  Jean was also an active member of the Hansen Chapter #22 Order of the Eastern Star where she served as a past Worthy Matron. Most importantly, she treasured the times that she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.<br />     <br />Jean passed away at 1:20 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at the St. John's Mercy Villa in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 83 years and 17 days.<br />     <br />Jean leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Randee Jean and her husband, Richard Gibson of Leawood, Kansas and Rebecca Ballew and her husband, Paul West of Springfield, MO; five grandchildren: Molly Nell, Ferryl Browne and Andrew Skyler Gibson, James Donovan Agee and Braden Randolph West; two great grandchildren: Sydney Marie Agee and Isabella Grace Collins; one sister: Maxine Farnham of Waynesville, MO; a niece: Susan and her husband Erv Morriss of Waynesville, MO; several other relatives and friends.<br />     <br />A memorial service was held at12:00 Noon Friday, June 27, 2008 in the Waynesville United Methodist Church with Pastor Londia Granger Wright officiating. Disher Sr., 83, died Tuesday, May 6, 2008, in Lexington Health Care after an illness of 10 months. <br /><br />Mr. Disher was born in Davidson County, on December 30, 1924, to Fred Virgil Disher and Martha Sheek Disher. He was a former heating and air sales representative and his highest priorities were his Christian faith, his uncommon devotion to his wife of 60 years, and his untiring commitment to his three children and four grandchildren.  At Lexington Community Church he served many years in leadership positions. He honorably served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army and was a Masonic member of Lexington Memorial 473. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Robert M. Disher III (Robby); and a sister, Elizabeth Carrick<br /><br />Surviving are his wife, Bobbie Burleson Disher of the home; sons, Bob Disher Jr. and wife, Susan, of Burlington, Eric Disher and wife, Jackie, of Lexington; daughter, Lora D.       <description><![CDATA[Frances Miller Thacker, age 77, of Lexington, NC, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.<br /><br />Frances was born in Davidson County July 4, 1930 to Jacob Ole Miller and Henritta Lou Tessie Brown Miller.  She attended Crossroads Church and was a retired employee of PPG. <br /><br />Frances was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert "Bob" Thacker, brothers; Earnest Miller, Crawford Miller, John Miller, H. Barstus Miller, C. Hollis Miller and Ole E Miller and sisters; Barbra Miller, Lou Nettie Miller and Mary Alice Miller.<br /><br />Surviving is her daughter Gloria Torres of Lexington, one grandson; Robert Tracy Spellenberg and one great-granddaughter; Bailee Gwyn Spellenberg.<br /><br />Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park. ]]></description>

      <description><![CDATA[Seth Reed Hollingsworth, 30, of Lexington, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.  <br /><br />Seth was born in Lexington on June 23, 1977 to Burney and Deborah Lynn Hollingsworth.  <br /><br />He was a self employed tree trimmer and a member of Landmark Pentecostal Holiness Church. <br /><br />Surviving in addition to his parents of the home are a brother Brandon Hollingsworth and wife Robyn; his maternal grandparents William and Dorthy Whitaker; and a nephew Devan Paul all of Lexington.<br /><br />Graveside Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 7 at Forest Hill Memorial Park.<br />]]></description>
