Today Forbes Elementary School held a ceremony to commemorate the seventh anniversary of 9/11, and also to have a tribute to Matthew Mendoza. The ceremony included a seven-gun salute, the playing of TAPS, The Brotherhood of Fallen soldiers, and numerous Veterans. The Mendoza family was presented with a beautiful print reflecting a Marine's helmet and boots. The ceremony also included the release of twenty-five white balloons, one for each year Matthew was alive. Highlights of the ceremony will be featured on Fox TV, channel 11 in San Antonio between 9pm and 9:30pm.
